Introduction

Smart home is an area that has received a lot of attention from operators but has yet to deliver the looked-for returns. Digital players, particularly those with a smart speaker offer, have so far taken the majority of the market opportunity and dominate the current market.

In the future, Mobile Market Development believes that value added smart home services (as opposed to standalone systems) will become the largest opportunity, and telcos need to act now to ensure they are optimally positioned at that time.

Best Practice Strategies to Minimise Losses to Digital Competitors
2018.10.31

2500.00 EUR

Mobile operators are facing increasing competition from digital organisations that are exploiting the availability of large quantities of customer and usage data by using social media and digital technologies such as machine learning and AI to the full.  Unless MNOs can compete successfully, they risk losing customers to them. To prevent losses of customers to these digital competitors, MNOs need to do more than deploy established and proven marketing and customer experience strategies and techniques.  Instead, to compete directly with ...

Beyond Quad-play, What Next for MNOs?
2017.12.22

2500.00 EUR

Quad-play has become the standard description for a full-service telecoms operator providing fixed voice, TV, internet and mobile services.  Although the term comes from a time when each service was delivered via its own network, it is a convenient label which captures the general perception of the market for such services. Now, MNOs are looking for other major service types that could be delivered over the same IP bearers.  With a continuing high level of competition for basic services, MNOs ...

Smart Home Opportunity for MNOs: Update
2017.07.03

2500.00 EUR

Mobile Market Development has been monitoring the development of M2M and IoT in recent years, looking at the area from a technology and a market perspective (i.e. what is possible and what customers want).  Both the evolution and growth of the technology, and a high level of market demand are by now assured, as is the requirement for connectivity to enable the applications and services to function.   However, in many applications, volume demands are light, so connectivity alone may ...
